Million Air Franchise Presents Medford Aircraft Mechanic with Prestigious Award
Jacob Ford Earns Mechanic of the Year 2009
MEDFORD, OR - October 2009 - One of the world's most recognized brands in aviation has awarded a Medford aircraft mechanic its prestigious Mechanic of the Year for 2009 award. This October, Jacob Ford became the first Oregonian to win the accolade from the Million Air franchise, selected from hundreds of mechanics working in more than 30 of its FBO operations in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
"I'm honored to have been chosen to get such an important award," Ford said. "This means a lot to me personally, but it also represents the excellence of the entire team."
The annual Mechanic of the Year award is presented to carefully selected Million Air FBO mechanics with outstanding records of performance, safety, work ethics and customer service. Ford has consistently earned outstanding marks on his Annual Reviews, with special notations for near-perfect attendance and having a positive attitude. "Jacob has a smile that lights up the room," said Joe Keith, president of Million Air Medford. "His pleasant demeanor wins customers over instantly."
Keith also referred to Ford as an excellent employee, talented mechanic and an outstanding ambassador of the franchise. "His ability to communicate with customers is one of his greatest strengths," Keith explained. "Customers actually ask for him to be the lead mechanic on their aircraft because he is so thorough and detail oriented. He understands customer service and is the personification of the Million Air brand."
Along with being a mechanic, Ford is a commercial pilot with an instrument rating. He has worked at the Medford facility since 2001, starting out as a line service technician and a mechanics apprentice before earning his A&P license several years ago. Along the way, he has incorporated his client services skills and a teamwork philosophy. "Jacob is a team player," said Keith. "he understands how important it is for the departments to work together so the customer has a great experience. I have seen him helping the line clean an aircraft coming out of maintenance because he wanted to provide that exceptional customer service."
The Mechanic of the Year Award comes on the heels of Million Air Medford being awarded the franchise's FBO of the Year award in 2008. The Million Air franchise of fixed-base operations provides upscale, private aviation services, including fueling, aircraft maintenance and pilot services. It is one of the largest aviation service companies in the world with headquarters in Houston, Texas.
The Million Air Medford Executive Terminal at 2040 Milligan Way opened for business in January 2007 and has since provided the general aviation community with the "Ultimate VIP Experience."
